Intellectual Property

Our firm handles the broad spectrum of issues that arise in connection with litigation and business transactions involving trademarks and copyrights. Our lawyers have experience in litigating matters under the Lanham Act and the Copyright Act in federal court, and through our representation of media interests in Arkansas, we have handled trademark and copyright issues in business matters for a number of years.

Our lead intellectual property attorney, Harold Evans, served for more than 17 years as the primary intellectual property lawyer for the University of Arkansas System. In that position, Mr. Evans became a pre-eminent attorney in Arkansas and the region in matters involving trademarks, copyrights and technology transfer. Mr. Evans developed a particular expertise in the preparation and negotiation of technology licensing agreements, although his experience has reflected the broad variety of intellectual property matters in which the University of Arkansas and its many campuses are involved. These include the protection and licensing of trademarks and copyrights, the licensing of agricultural and biotechnology patents and the licensing and commercialization of medical devices, chemical processes and software.

Mr. Evans continues his representation of the University of Arkansas System and is actively involved in national organizations pertaining to intellectual property and technology transfer, including the American Intellectual Property Association, the International Trademark Association, the Association of University Technology Managers, and the Licensing Executives Society
