Employment Law
Williams & Anderson has an experienced and respected team of employment law attorneys. Philip E. Kaplan joined the firm in August 2007. He tried Richardson v. Sugg, et al., a highly-publicized and controversial case in which he successfully defended the University of Arkansas and others in a suit brought by the head basketball coach of the 1994 Arkansas Razorback national championship team.
Our Employment Group led a team of lawyers in representing a Fortune 10 company in a nationwide race discrimination class action lawsuit involving truck drivers.
According to Chambers USA 2008, the firm’s employment team acts for a variety of national and international clients who applaud the lawyers’ “absolutely top notch service and representation.”
Employment problems can be avoided or minimized by properly drafting employment agreements and employment handbooks, training employees on the nuances of the many federal and state employment laws, and providing advice and counsel to clients making employment decisions. The firm’s employment team includes lawyers who are experienced in drafting and reviewing employment documents and trial lawyers who represent employers in state and federal trial and appellate courts in matters including:
- Wrongful discharge and termination claims
- Benefits litigation involving wage and hour claims, unpaid commissions, vacation, severance pay, and matters arising under OSHA and ERISA
- Contract and labor disputes
- Unfair competition and trade secrets
