Teresa M. Wineland

Teresa Wineland practices in the areas of commercial, complex, class action and general litigation.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Ms. Wineland joined Williams & Anderson PLC in 2007 after 25 years in private practice with a defense firm in El Dorado, Arkansas. She has been lead counsel in over 75 jury trials in a wide range of subject areas. She has also handled numerous non-jury trials and mediations, and is experienced in family law and bankruptcy. She was a law clerk to United States District Judge George Howard, Jr.

PROFESSIONAL AND CIVIC ACTIVITIES

Ms. Wineland chaired the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Model Jury Instructions – Civil, 2011 and 2012 editions.. She has been active in the Arkansas Bar Association, serving in the House of Delegates and on the Executive Council and Board of Governors. She is a past president of the Arkansas Bar Foundation and Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel. She is on the Editorial Advisory Board of The Arkansas Lawyer and served on the board of Arkansas Volunteer Lawyers for the Elderly. She also belongs to the American and Pulaski County Bar Associations.

Ms. Wineland is a member of the Defense Research Institute and a former state representative to DRI. She is on the National Board of Directors of the American Board of Trial Advocates and served as president of the Arkansas chapter. She has been a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel. She has spoken on such topics as ethics, damages, and employment law, and is on the faculty of the Arkansas Professionalism Practicum.

Ms. Wineland serves on the Arkansas Zoological Foundation Board.

EDUCATION

Ms. Wineland is a 1978 graduate of the University of Arkansas with Honors in political science and received her Juris Doctorate degree from Duke University School of Law in 1981. She graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1974.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Ms. Wineland is listed in Best Lawyers in America under Bet-the-Company Litigation, Commercial Litigation and Personal Injury Litigation, and in Mid-South Super Lawyers in Business Litigation, Employment Litigation: Defense and Civil Litigation: Defense.

Ms. Wineland is the 2010 recipient of the Maurice Cathey Award for outstanding contributions to The Arkansas Lawyer and has received the Arkansas Bar Association’s Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award. She received a 2011 Distinguished Service Award from the ACLU for her role in the successful challenge to Initiated Act 1. She is the author of “Handling Constitutional Challenges to a Statute” published in The Arkansas Lawyer, Vol. 44, No. 1 (Winter 2009).

Ms. Wineland is in the Leadership Arkansas Class VI.

PERSONAL

Ms. Wineland is married to an insurance claims manager.  She has one daughter who is a real estate agent. She enjoys Razorback sports, boating on Lake Ouachita, her English Springer spaniels, and jazz and classic rock music.
