Teresa M. Wineland
Teresa Wineland practices in the areas of commercial, employment, and general litigation. She is a 1978 graduate of the University of Arkansas with Honors in political science and received her Juris Doctorate degree from Duke University School of Law in 1981. She joined Williams & Anderson PLC in 2007 after 25 years in a general defense-oriented practice in El Dorado, Arkansas. Her experience includes over 75 jury trials in such diverse areas as medical malpractice, premises liability, products liability, employment, insurance, and vehicular accidents, as well as numerous non-jury trials and mediations. She is also experienced in family law. She was a law clerk to United States District Judge George Howard, Jr. prior to entering private practice. She was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where she graduated from high school in 1974.
Ms. Wineland has been active in the Arkansas Bar Association, serving in the House of Delegates and on the Executive Council and Board of Governors. She was president of the Arkansas Bar Foundation in 2002-03 and served on its board. She is on the Editorial Board of the Arkansas Lawyer and received the 2010 Maurice Cathey Award for outstanding contributions to the publication. She received the Arkansas Bar Association’s Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award in 1998 and served on the board of directors of Arkansas Volunteer Lawyers for the Elderly. She also belongs to the American and Pulaski County Bar Associations.
Ms. Wineland is a member of the Defense Research Institute, serving as state representative in 1996-97. She is a member and former president of the Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel. She currently serves as President of the Arkansas chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a national organization of experienced trial lawyers dedicated to the promotion of the Seventh Amendment right to trial by jury in civil cases. She has been a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel. She is chair of the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Model Jury Instructions Civil. She has spoken on such topics as ethics, damages, and ERISA, and is on the faculty of the Arkansas Professionalism Practicum.
Ms. Wineland is listed in Best Lawyers in America under Bet-the-Company Litigation, Commercial Litigation and Personal Injury Litigation and in Mid-South Super Lawyers in the areas of Business Litigation, Employment Litigation: Defense and Civil Litigation Defense.
She is a member of the Arkansas Zoological Foundation Board and has served on the boards of the Union County Community Foundation, the Salvation Army, and Habitat for Humanity. She is an active Episcopalian and an avid Razorback fan. She is married to Keith Cooper, a claims manager with Progressive Insurance Company. They have one daughter, Monica Cooper, who attends the Walton School of Business at the University of Arkansas. Ms. Wineland enjoys travel, boating and water-skiing on Lake Ouachita, hiking with her English Springer spaniels, and listening to jazz and classic rock music.
